How could I possibly know that?

Today at work, was no better than any other day...except for one little gem of a transaction. Here is how the story unfolds.

Customer who I have never seen before in my life holding up a memory card: "Excuse me, is this the memory card that I almost bought on Friday?"

Me: How could I possibly know that?

Customer (getting angry): A simple "no" would have sufficed.

Me: ...

Customer (getting red in the face): ...

Me: Okay then. No.

In other news, here is a picture of my friend Trousie looking epic.

10 Things I'm Thankful For

Being that I only have 30 minutes left of Thanksgiving and I've had a marvelous day, I figured that I would try and list at least 10 things I am thankful for. Here are the things that are at the top of my list.

I am thankful for...
1. My family
2. My friends
3. Indoor plumbing
4. Music
5. Photography
6. The internet
7. Cute furry animals
8. Indie boys <3
9. Holidays
10. Glitter

Thanksgiving!

Today was great.

I pulled myself out of bed first thing and headed over to Christina's house. There, I helped her prepare breakfast for her family. We made pancakes in animal shapes (that turned out to be blobs) as well as bacon and eggs.

Then, at around 1:35 (because I'm always late) I arrived at my Dad's house. There, my Aunt Kristi, who is an amazing cook, had prepared a Thanksgiving feast of one giant turkey, two types of stuffing, two types of gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, and much more.

And just when I was super full and didn't think that live could get any better, I saw the dessert table that was complete with a pecan pie, a pumpkin pie, and a cherry pie.

I am thankful for family, for friends, and for my dinner feast.

What's the oldest piece of clothing you still own and wear?

I have my dads jacket from when he was in high school football. I still wear it and love it. It's from the seventies. I am a vintage type of girl...

If you could change one thing that happened last year what would it be?

Probably not transferring out of my old store sooner! What a change.

What is the biggest crime you've committed?

Getting a traffic ticket. I really am quite the law abiding citizen. I did also get the cops called on Drake once for noise when I was trying to teach his cousin the 1 2 step. It was for the sake of the dance!

Do you have any recurring dreams?

I don't have any recurring dreams now, but when I was 8 years old, I used to have a recurring dream of a serial killer that killed my family. Yes, I was a messed up kid. And that dream was terrifying. But I haven't had it in a long time.
Also, when I got older, I used to dream of being trapped in my Grandpa's house while Michael Meyers came after me.
And yes, I do realize that this means the only 2 recurring dreams I ever had involved serial killers. Think of that what you may...

What TV show makes you laugh the loudest?

The struggle never dies.

So, for the longest time, I thought that writing was difficult. I struggled writing my novels, struggled figuring out the characters and the plot. But something I wasn't prepared for was the difficulty that came AFTER I had finished my novel.

Now, with a completed novel, I have begun sending out inquiries to agents to see if I could get some representation and get published. However, I am beginning to feel discouraged.

I understand that these people see thousands of manuscripts and I am sure that out of these thousands, very few are good. However, this is what they signed up for. The day that they decided that they would be agents, was the day that they commited to get thousands of unwanted writings arriving in the mail or via email. However, I can't help but to compare this to the celebrities that complain about being famous...it just comes with the territory.

Now what I can't stand, is the impersonal nature of the rejections. If I spend 30 minutes, personally curtailing a query to an agent, I am astounded that they can't even spend the time to cut and past my name into a pre-existing rejection letter and call it a day! I have gotten several: "Dear Author, We apologize for the impersonal nature of this rejection."

Hmmm....

I apologize that you're an asshole.

Believe me, this is not about my rejections. I can handle those. I just wish that some agents could pull their heads out of their asses and act human. After all, almost everyone on this planet is.

4/7/10

I love the beach! Last night, me, Ryan (the boyfriend), Drake (the roommate), and his sister (visiting from.....somewhere) all went to Laguna Beach to watch the sunset and eat dinner together. Of course, the second I got close enough, I ran towards to beach because the sunset looked so beautiful!

I love how the water looks even more blue, almost flourescent when the sun begins to set! I couldn't believe the vividness of the oranges, reds, and their incredible contrast with the water. I know what you're thinking and the answer is yes. I have seen a sunset before. But it has been a while since I've enjoyed it so....and I hope you find it just as stupendous as I.

The place we wanted to eat was this little pizzeria on a corner. But when we arrived, they were already closed. So we ate at BJs. I couldn't believe how tiny the BJs is in Laguna, but it was still delicious! Once you're inside, it felt like I was eating somewhere inside of a boat, it's so quaint!

I have to go into work tonight....BOOO! Being that I had school earlier today, I really am not looking forward to this, however, I will just have to grin and bear it. I haven't won the lottery yet....

In other news...

So, so far this week has been rather uneventful. But, such is my life, really.

I've recently joined this one site called www.authonomy.com. It's actually pretty amazing. It's where writers can upload part or all or their novels and people can look at them and comment on them. Then, based off of how many people back your work, you can end up on the publishers desk of Harper Collins! I know it's unrealistic, but you should check it out. My novel is called Juliet and Romeo. It is unfinished, but I am really excited how it looks thus far.

Also, my teacher of my Advanced English class put me in a group assignment. Let me just say, that for me, group assignments suck. I would most likely rather pour acid into my eyes. It always ends up one of 4 ways:
1. I end up with people who literally don't do anything. And may not even know how to read.
2. I end up with people who disagree on the assignment, and none of them will waiver. Allowing for our group to get horrible grades because it is entirely uncollaborated on, and shows it.
3. I end up with someone I cannot stand, and have to grin and bear it, while envisioning either me running away screaming or me blowing a hole in their head.
4. I join a group, and no one else joins...thus I do more work, but am almost greatful that it didn't end up like the previous three.

And so my next group project has fallen under catagory 3. Enough said.

Listening to All Time Low. So good!

If you could visit any place in the world right now, where would it be?

Candyland. Preferably in the castle in the end. So I would not only have won, but I would have castles of ice cream at my disposal.

least favorite animal? or animal you deem most worthless?

I don't really have a least favorite animal. I really like them all. If I had to pick a least favorite though, I suppose I might say that my least favorite is any animal that is mean and wont let me pet it.

What's the longest you've ever gone without a bath or shower?

Probably no longer than 24 hours, for when I've been camping. I am kind of a shower freak. I take at least 2 a day. Sorry whales. No water for you. :(

Marry you? Yes. Only if we can have dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets and mac-n-cheese at our reception. The only thing I still need besides this, is who you are?

What TV show do you wish would go off the air for good?

I'm going to have to go with Basketball. That and probably golf. I can't think of a bigger waste of tv space than these two.
